HUGE LINE MOVE ON PENN STATE RUTGERS GAME FROM 18 DOWN TO 14

It came out that most of the offensive line has the flu. The bunch they have does not protect Clifford well often and with Schiano dialing up blitzes it could well be a game Rutgers could surprise some people. The three players involved are center Mike Miranda; tackles Rasheed Walker and Caedan Wallace. All are on the field for warmups but they missed most of practice this week.

(I’m looking at some games later to post a play, in case you are wondering).

Dont beat yourself up, it happens. There was a reason for the late line move.

Think of line moves logically. If Penn State has several offensive lineman who may not play, the line SHOULD move down.

Its the illogical line moves that get my attention. For example, years ago, I believe it was summer of 1999, Dave Eiland of the Rays was +300 vs Pedro Martinez who was laying -360. About an hour before game time, the line started to move down. I saw it drop to -340, 325 then -300 on Pedro. I called Reno and we quickly decided to take Dave Eiland +250. The Rays won 3-2 if I remember correctly. As Reno said to me, who the heck is taking the Rays and betting the line down versus PEDRO? It was so illogical, we had to take it.

The lesson here is, if the line move has a reason behind it, maybe take a second hard look at it, but its not an autoplay.

I remember those lines from the early 2000s. Martinez, Clemens, Pettite, David Wells, Randy Johnson, Schilling, Maddux, Smoltz, the A’s triumvirate (Zito/Mulder/Hudson) - all of these guys were routinely -250 or higher. I was a novice sports bettor at the time (some might say I’m still a novice) and thought betting them was guaranteed money. Few things were more stressful than betting -350 to win 500 and seeing the stud go out in the sixth inning with a 1-0 lead and runners on.

Maybe not a million but definitely a lot.
if you want a couple of good books to read, check out Chris Andrews “then one day” book. Also Steve Cyr book “whale hunt in the desert”.

I know both guys fairly well and their books are absolutely fabulous. Well worth the read.

I read them both. Good stuff. You ought to think about doing something similar. With sports betting becoming available anywhere and exploding in popularity, the market is there.
