Churchill Downs Saturday November 4 2006 Selections and Analysis by Bradley Rutz

The Breeders Cup World Championships is the United States of Americas biggest day of racing. There are $20 million dollars in purses up for grabs on Saturday November 4th at Churchill Downs. Last year the handle for the Breeders Cup hit an all time high at $112 million dollars. If you like full fields value and good payoffs like I do then youre going to love the Breeders Cup. The only problem is the Breeders Cup is the hardest races to handicap. This is manly because you can make a case for just about any horse in the race. This is why I personally play large pick three and pick four tickets. Below I have my free best play of the day Good luck!

Best Play Race: Breeders Cup Distaff Distance: 1 Mile 1/8 Horse: Balletto:

6-1 Balletto is owned by Darley Stable. Darley stable is the most productive stable in the United States with earnings of 4911589 out of 240 races 54 first place finishes 54 second place finishes and 32 third place finishes. If you do the math Darley Stable is 58% in the money which is outstanding in horse racing. As you can see Darley stable only brings them out when they have a shot to win. The trainer for Balletto is Thomas Albertrania. Thomas Albertrania is 20% with shippers and 26% with graded stakes races. He sends his horses out sharp and ready and their is no dought in my mind Balletto is shape and ready and likes the Churchill Downs surface after breezing a five furlong workout in 1:02 1/5 at Churchill Downs. The pace scenario should set up nicely for Balletto. She loves the distance of a mile and 1/8. Her two top speed figures are at the mile of 1 1/8. She finished second two straight times to the favorite Fleet Indian and the finished second to another contender in here Spun Sugar. Losing to Fleet Indian by 4 lengths in the first race and a nose in the last and losing to Spun Sugar by a nose. Many handicappers might think she just doesnt like to win after recording 3 straight second place finishes I have to disagree. I had seen every one of her three starts at Belmont and Saratoga. She finished gamely in everyone one of those starts except one were she got in trip trouble and went 3 wide however still game home nicely. Is the Distaff her day to be in the winners circle? I believe so Please make sure Balletto has a good post before wagering. Post positions are very important in large fields like the breeders cup distaff. I would prefer her the number 4-7 post position. Dont leave these horses out of your pick three or pick four tickets. If you do you might be tearing up your ticket.
