Interleague action is in full swing after last night's contests with a couple of series being postponed due to rain.

Yankees/Mets along with Brewers/Red Sox will try to get two in on Saturday which can always be a home crowd favorite....the ol' two for one deal. It is especially nice when the home team manages to sweep a pair.

St Louis dropped the first game of their series with the Devil Rays, who remain red hot and in the lead in the AL East. Cardinals will be looking to bounce back with the arm of Wainwright. Wainwright is coming off a subpar road start in his last work so a home rebound is what the Cardinals will be looking for. Tampa Bay pitching has been on a roll, but can they really continue to pitch this well? I am backing the home side in this one and expect to see St. Louis get the win.

St Louis Wainwright -124

Cincinnati came through and won the first game of their series with the Indians by a count of 4-3. That win puts the Reds at four straight wins which is the most for them this season. Considering the poor starting the pitching the Reds are accustomed to other than Volquez, it is amazing they have put this current streak together. Winning run for the Reds in Friday night's game was scored courtesy of the base on balls.

Cleveland on the other hand has been the team getting the excellent work from the starters. Sowers allowing three runs last night was the most by a Cleveland starter since Byrd allowed five runs in May 8 start. Carmona is simply on fire.....he is 3-0 with a 2.51 ERA over his last three and he is coming off a shutout of the Blue Jays in his last outing. That was the 2nd shutout of his career....he allowed five hits in his gem. The kid is pitching with confidence and his stuff is really moving hard in and out on the hitters.

Give me the Indians against a pitcher in Harang who struggled yet again in his last outing against Florida. Almost a gift for the Reds to actually be favored in this contest as I have Cleveland winning around 57% of the time in this spot with Carmona on the hill

Cleveland Carmona +114

The Astros pitching got roughed up last night in their 16-8 beatdown at the hands of the Texas Rangers. Neither starter really was effective in the game and both starters had hit the showers after 5 innings in this one. Working the bullpen last night might have some effect on the game Saturday. Houston comitting five errors in the field combined with giving up the long ball did them in on Friday.

Oswalt starts for the Astros in this one and he has certainly put his ugly start to the season in the rear view mirror. Houston is now a 5-1 run the last 6 times that Oswalt has taken the hill. I am backing the hot pitching of Oswalt in this contest and taking Houston at a very reasonable price.

Houston Oswalt -113

GOOD LUCK to all with your Saturday action
